Our poll has been completed and we thank everyone who took their time to vote. The winner is water and sanitations charity Akvo.org. We are currently in discussions with them to see how we can make this an interesting fundraiser for both us and them. We have also secured a great venue and other sponsorship deals, so we are well under way to actually coming through with the event on 10 september. Stay tuned for more info. (more…)

One of the key concepts of Twestival is a high user participation. We want to engage and activate our participants, not just ask for donations and then forget about following up the results. Therefore we want you to get engaged from the start!

Now we need your help to decide upon the most basic question; what charity should recieve our donations?

Select one of the charities in the list on your right and click “vote”. The charity with the most votes when this poll closes on tuesday 18 August at 23:59 will recieve all our donations.

To help you choose we have compiled a summary of the charities below. Also visit their websites if you want even more information.

We truly appreciate your help with this. Please spread this to everyone you know. We want as many voices as possible to ensure a fair result. Thank you! (more…)

These are vacation times in Sweden, and during vacation you usually get the most crazy ideas. While driving to IKEA one day Elin and Fredrik started discussing the possibility for organizing a local Twestival event for Karlshamn. Twestival is a global charity event where people crowdsource around a common goal at more or less the same time in more than 200 cities. When they got home they started fishing around for more people to help and quickly found two more soul mates in Lisa and Danish. Last week they all sat down and started planning the event in more detail. You will find out what they cooked up very soon! Until then, here’s a short presentation of the people organizing “Twestival Local 2009 Karlshamn”:

Fredrik Broman — @frebro

Värmland boy who grew up in Lund and moved to Karlshamn for studies at BTH back in ‘01. He now works as a designer and developer at Avalon Enterprise in the big red brick buildings down in the harbour.

He also worked a year and a half in Stockholm where he helped found Tweetmeetup Stockholm – a way for online friends to meet face to face in improvised parties.

Lisa Enckell — @enckelli

Lisa Enckell grew up in the lovely town of Karlshamn. Now she lives in Stockholm where she studies Business and Economics and works as a junior consultant at Trimedia. She has been at Trimedia since 2007 and is greatly interested in social media and online communication.

Beginning this fall she will start her studies at the Masters programme of Business and Economics, Marketing and Media Management at the Stockholm School of Economics.

Danish Rehman — @danishR

A boy from stockholm who moved to Karlshamn for studies at BTH in ‘06. He recently finished his degree in Digital Media and is currently searching for a job as an art director or project leader. He was one of the guys who made the Baltic Festival website for 2009.

Danish has been actively working for the students’ social group, throwing several events och parties since ‘07. He’s very experienced with creating events.

Elin Jensen — @elinj

Grew up in Småland and later moved with her parents to Lund. After studying in Kristianstad to become a teacher she moved to Karlshamn and started working for ABM Blekinge where she led the project of celebrating the 350 years since the Roskilde peace. Today she works for Kreativum, managing visitors and company delegations.

She continues her studies about learning with IT and social media at KTH and BTH and is currently leading a communal project that investigates how we can use IT and social media for public services.
